We are trying to use our standard mountain bike chain for the sprocket on the motor and it doesn't seem to fit. This confused us as in one of the first workshops when we had to build a bike it seemed to work fine. So my question is should a standard bike chain fit on the sprocket that's on the motor?

Hi, teams have found that narrow mountainbike chains for rear gear clusters over 5 speeds do not fit well on the standard sprocket. In the past teams have used single speed or BMX chain available from bike shops- this is the same as the one supplied with the kit. Other teams have machined the sprocket to accept mountainbike chains.
There is a thread elsewhere on chains.
Hope that helps.
